Specialized Marine Equipment for Complex Installation Work

Marine construction performance depends on having the right equipment, configured the right way, for the conditions at hand. CMI maintains a specialized fleet designed to support submarine cable installation, cable burial, heavy civil marine construction, barge-based operations, dive support, survey work, crew transport, and marine logistics.

Our modular equipment philosophy allows us to configure equipment spreads for project-specific requirements, mobilize efficiently, and adapt to restricted access, shallow water, remote locations, and challenging site conditions.

Sea Rhino

The Sea Rhino is a remotely operated amphibious trenching system designed for complex submarine cable burial operations. With independently controlled tracks for mobility, steering, suspension, and stability, the system can operate across land, shallow water, and underwater environments. It supports direct burial and post-lay burial operations across varied terrain and seabed conditions.

ETA Jet Plow

CMI’s ETA jet plow is a primary simultaneous lay-and-bury tool for submarine cable installation. It supports efficient cable burial operations where project requirements call for controlled installation and burial in a single operation.

ETA ST-4 Diver Trencher

The ETA ST-4 diver trencher is a post-lay burial tool used for surface-laid cable burial in soft-bottom applications. Suspended and surface-fed, it is well suited for work areas where larger burial equipment may not be practical.

Brilex 2500T Carousel, Expandable to 5000T

CMI’s Brilex carousel supports large-scale submarine cable handling and storage. With expandable capacity and redundant motor capability, the system supports safe, controlled cable loading, storage, and installation operations.

HICE 3T and 5T Cable Engines

CMI’s linear cable engines support fiber and power cable handling through controlled tension and movement. Their split configuration allows hydraulic power units to be located separately from the tensioner, improving deck layout flexibility and reducing space and noise constraints.

15T Linear Cable Engine

The 15T linear cable engine provides higher-capacity handling capability for submarine cable and pipe installation activities. Its versatility supports a range of marine construction and cable installation operations.

Loading Arms with Tensioner

Hydraulic loading arms are used with CMI’s cable engines to support controlled cable spooling between shore, carousel, and cable highway configurations.

Sectional Barges

Sectional barges provide flexible work platforms for shallow water, confined locations, and sites with limited access. Their modular design allows them to be transported, assembled, and configured to support project-specific equipment, materials, and crew requirements.

Jack-Up Barges

Jack-up barges provide stable elevated work platforms for construction, installation, and maintenance activities where fixed positioning and safe access are critical.

Dive Spreads

CMI maintains multiple dive spreads to support underwater inspection, utility locating, equipment deployment, maintenance, and diver-assisted construction. These spreads include diver launch and recovery systems, decompression chambers, water lifts, diver jets, and related support equipment.

Cable Lay Survey Spread

CMI’s survey spread provides positioning, alignment, measurement, verification, and as-built documentation support for cable installation and marine construction operations.

Crew Boats

CMI’s crew boats provide personnel transport and daily site support, with passenger capacity, navigation equipment, diesel power, and deck space for tools and gear.

Support Vessels

CMI’s support vessels provide push boat, crew boat, work platform, shallow-draft access, material movement, and general on-water support for active marine construction operations.
